You are always trying to avoid designer’s block. It’s a nightmare. But it happens, even to the best of us. So here is several things you can do to break designer’s block.

1. Questions

You should ask yourself some questions that inspire you.
Examples of questions:

• What is your favorite novel?
• What is your favorite film?
• What is your favorite Ad campaign?
• What is your favorite music video?
• What is the most moving moment you have ever experienced?
• What is the most screwed up / sad event you have ever experienced?
• What is the most happy thing that could happen to you?
• What makes you angry?

2. Mind Mapping

Mind mapping is very helpful to visualize, structure, and classify your ideas. It can help you to organize your inner mind.

3. Dictionary

Looking up words on dictionary is also useful to stimulate your creativity. Let’s say, you are creating a logo design for an airline company, look up the words: air, sky, cloud, etc. It will help you to understand what you are creating by reading a definition. You will also find synonyms. Those synonyms will help you to view the project from a different point of view.

4. Poetry

If you can not visualize your idea, you may want to try to write down some letters. You do not need to write great poetry here. To write a poetry, you can expand your ideas.

5. Proverbs

If you think you are not a poet, you can always read what others have to say. Just relax yourself and read some proverbs. They will inspire your creativity.

6. Search Videos with some tags

Pick your keyword and search videos on YouTube or other sites.
Examples of keywords: “motion graphics”, “broadcast design”

7. Websites of Design Studios

Visit the websites of various design studios to discover their recent works. Take a look what other designers are doing.

8. Gather Reference

To have a good reference is a must whatever you are creating.
